Most Canadian universities and colleges offer scholarships at the time of admission based on academic merit, often awarded automatically. Some Canadian universities also offer India-specific awards. The Government of Canada has also instituted scholarships, awards and grants for scholars, including those at the PhD and postdoctoral levels, as well as faculty members and institutions, to attract the world’s best and brightest students and researchers to Canada.

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship

$70,000 per year for two years. The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship program provides funding to postdoctoral applicants from around the world to help develop their leadership potential and position them for success as research leaders of tomorrow.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship

$50,000 per year for three years. The Vanier Scholarship program aims to attract and engage world-class doctoral students and is available to both Canadian and international PhD students studying at Canadian universities.
