How Students can Apply for Permanent Residency in Canada ?

 

Every student in Canada is eligible to apply for PR in Canada. All students pursuing a 4 year Bachelor’s degree or 3-year Diploma in Canada will get a 3-year open work permit. 

 

Permanent residence for students in Canada means that you can live, work and study in the country permanently. 

 

The eligibility criteria to get a student PR in Canada, you must:

 

-Be a genuine student with plans to study in an accredited Canadian institution

-Have completed your study in a recognized learning institution in Canada.

 

  1. Complete your studies in Canada.
  2. Prove your language ability in either English or French by taking a recognized test. 
  3. Gather work experience for a minimum 1 year 
  4. A job offer may be required (requirements vary by province)
  5. Create an Express Entry profile or apply directly to the province

Permanent Residence (PR) status is granted to individuals who have been living in Canada on a valid temporary visa for a certain time. PR status gives individuals the right to live and work in Canada permanently. Students who have PR status do not need to apply for a new visa when they want to come back to Canada to study. 

 

PR status also gives individuals the opportunity to apply for Canadian citizenship. You have to complete 750 days in Canada over a period of 5 years to be able to get your Canadian Passport. 

 

There are several pathways to apply for PR after completing your study in After they have completed their degree, there are many programs available to grant permanent residency to students in Canada:

 

 The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is for temporary foreign workers and international graduates who have already gained professional work experience in Canada.

 

– The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals for permanent residency based on their skills and employment prospects in the province.

 

– The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is for skilled workers who have at least one year of full-time work experience in a designated occupation.

 

– The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is for skilled tradespeople with at least two years of full-time work experience in a designated trade.

 

  • Quebec Experience Class (QEC)

International students who have completed a recognized program of study in Quebec, and who possess an intermediate level of proficiency in the French language may qualify under this Canadian immigration program. Canadian work experience is not required for this Quebec immigration program.
